Faded Dreams

Their hopes and dreams soon faded away
As they were sent into the Warsaw
ghetto that terrible day

Alone and afraid a man walks through the streets
He’s frightened and tired and needs something to eat

A child is there, weary eyes and ghostly face
The Nazi’s had put up the walls and left not a space

They fixed barbed wire and broken glass at the top
The child ran to the wall but then he was shot

The man tried to stop the boy from his impossible fate
But looking into the Nazi’s eyes all he could see was hate

The boy fell to the ground clutching the Star of David to his chest
He looked at the man and then drifted off to his eternal rest

As the man looked up to face his fear
He realized that death was very near

He knew that the Nazi’s would never treat him equal
They had hatred in their souls toward all of the Jewish people

The man knew that he had to try to keep alive
He must do anything in order to survive

He kept his faith in God above
And to all the Jewish people he showed his love

Trapped in the walls not much to see
He prayed to be out, he prayed to be free

He walked alone, He was still afraid
It never changed the whole time he stayed

60 years later we remember them still
We can not forget the Warsaw ghetto, we never will
